01 Mar The Karenni Longneck Tribe

The Karenni longnecked tribe are refugees from Burma who have been living in Thailand since 1992.
Since they are refugees, they cannot work legally in Thailand.
Originally they were farmers in their home country of Burma, having their own land, farms and houses. They led a peaceful life.
However, all that changed in 1948 when Burma hailed its independence from the Uk. Once that happened, the Burmese government waged a civil war against this tribe and forced them across the border and into Thailand.
